While walking around our neighborhood with my sister and baby niece, we attempted to stop by Shoppers Drugmart for a few minutes. Well, a few minutes turned into almost an hour… I saw that Maybelline and Rimmel were having a sale on some items I haven’t tried before. So I grabbed a few items for fall.
First up is the Maybelline Fit Me Liquid Foundation in 220 Natural Beige (Normal to Dry range). One of my friends posted a video a few months ago, talking about this product so I wanted to give it a try. I normally wear powder foundation because I find liquid foundation heavy at times. So, I was pleasantly surprised that this foundation felt weightless. It also blended well with a sponge or foundation brush and it has SPF18! In terms of colour match, I find that the foundation matches my skin pretty well, although I did notice that the formula oxidizes a tad darker. Also, the foundation is light-medium coverage so if you’re looking for a more full coverage foundation, this product is not for you. I would say it’s long wearing, especially if you set the foundation with powder and a setting spray.
Next up is a liquid lipstick from Rimmel, the Provocalips 16hr Kiss Proof Lip Colour in 750 Heart Breaker. It has a doe foot applicator for both the gloss and the actual liquid lipstick. I tried this product a few times and I like that it’s pigmented. It is also kiss proof, but can be very drying on the lips. It is a liquid lipstick after all so that’s understandable. You can layer the product to get a more opaque finish, but the product is not long wearing and you’ll see the liquid lipstick crumbling over time. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend getting this product even if it is kiss proof. Crumbling lips ain’t cute! Haha 😉
From Maybelline again, I got an Expert Wear quad eyeshadow in 220 Chai Latte. It’s not a new product launch, I simply wanted to give the quad a try. The copper eye shadow on the top right corner attracted me to this quad since I’ve been looking for a similar colour. Honestly, the eye shadows are okay in terms of pigmentation. You will probably have to layer a few times to get the true colour of the eye shadow. It’s a versatile quad that has 3 shimmers and 1 matte eye shadows so you can easily use the darker shade if you want to try a smokey eye with a hint of copper tone.
Baked Highlighter from Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics in Bellissima, was a product I got from one of my ipsy glam bags. It’s a very pigmented highlighter that has a slight hint of peachy pink. A beautiful highlighter for your cheekbones! You don’t need a lot of the product on your brush since it picks up pretty well.
Finally, my L’Oreal love affair continues with the Tint Caresse in Lily Blossom. I got this baby from my dad since he flew back from the Philippines for a couple of weeks. It’s actually an item I have wanted to try since last year. Unfortunately, they were out of stock since it was a new product launch. L’Oreal doesn’t carry this product in North America so it wasn’t something I can buy here.
Right of the bat, the packaging is gorgeous! It has a sponge applicator and the product is deposited from the cap. You’ll hear a little click once you unscrew the cap. From there, the product is immediately deposited on the sponge. I wanted to try this product because despite of it being a lip product, the lip tint formula is powder. I thought that was really cool and innovative! After trying this product a few times, the application process is easy and the formula is not drying on the lips. It’s not a long-wearing product so you will probably have to reapply, especially if you like to eat as much as I do. 🙂 From what I gathered, the product is supposed to help you get a gradient lip effect (a popular trend in Korea). If you have very pigmented lips like myself, you can add a little bit of foundation to cancel out the colour.
