Re: My L’Oreal Paris Mascara Obsession

It started a few years ago. I was just browsing through the cosmetic section at Walmart looking for mascara. It all seemed so innocent… They said that the first step was admitting my obsession so here it is. My name is Kaye and I am a L’Oreal Paris Voluminous mascara obsessed.

I have repurchased this tube time and time again while also trying out other mascaras from L’Oreal’s Voluminous line. I thought I would share with you guys some of my experiences when using some of L’Oreal’s mascaras from their Voluminous line. The mascaras I will be talking about are:

  1. Voluminous False Fiber Lashes
  2. Voluminous Butterfly
  3. Voluminous Butterfly Intenza
  4. L’Oreal Curl Impact Collagen (not sure if this was part of the line)
  5. Voluminous Million Lashes

I tried this mascara about 3 years ago and repurchased it again. I like that it is able to lengthen my lashes really well but it does tend to have a lot of fall out especially after a long day. Instead, I like to add it as a final coat to add a little boost to my lashes for a special occasion or on date nights.

When I tried this mascara, the formula felt a little different. My lashes had to get use to the formula and the applicator first, then after 3-5 uses the mascara worked pretty well. By that I mean, it delivered with giving my voluminous lashes and I like that it was easy to apply my bottom lashes. Though, I’m not a big fan of how clunky the applicator is, which was why I didn’t repurchase the mascara after the first use.

I tried this mascara after trying the first butterfly version. Frankly, I didn’t see a lot of difference between this version and the other. If anything, I think I like the first version better because of the slight difference between the applicators. The formula feels the same and still delivered voluminous lashes, but yet again, the applicator felt clunky for me.

Side note: The newest version from the voluminous butterfly line looks promising. The applicator is a good size, curvature and it actually reminds of a hybrid applicator. If the telescopic applicator and the original butterfly applicator had a baby it kinda looks like the new Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt applicator.

I got this mascara from my aunt when I asked her to get me a L’Oreal mascara from the Philippines. Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of the formula in this mascara. The curved applicator is nice but the formula felt very heavy on my lashes. I’ve probably used this mascara for about 2 weeks cumulative and I really wanted to make it work. The formula is just not right for me.

Finally, I’ve talked about this mascara multiple times in my Spring Beauty Favourites and Makeup 101 blog posts. That’s just how much I love it! Great formula and it’s buildable. I didn’t talk about that with the other mascaras, but I tend to apply 2 coats unless I’m in a rush. I like that it doesn’t clump easily after applying 3 coats (or more). Will repurchase this mascara again once I finished trying out Maybelline’s Great Lash mascara. I know I’m a little late with this. The applicator didn’t seem appealing too me since I like the ones with plastic bristles instead of the brush.

If you made it to the very end of this long L’Oreal mascara love affair of a post, thank you! Have you guys used any mascara from L’Oreal? Feel free to leave a comment below and share with us your experiences 🙂

Always,

K
